After a fair bit of re-writing, adjusting, adapting and preparing the d13gallery Wordpress plugin is now available to download from the Wordpress.org website.

This is a great move forward as it’s now tied directly to an SVN repository meaning that any changes or fixes get updated every 15 minutes and you get the added bonus of single-click upgrades through your Wordpress admin screens.

The plugin has been available for only 8 hours and has so far been downloaded 125 times — so there’s still a demand for the gallery even after Wordpress have added the functionality natively.

I have, for a while now, been a member of the Icon Buffet online community. A site that combines social networking with the sharing of graphical icons in a way that makes playing the Icon Buffet game incredibly addictive.

My interest in Icon Buffet has grown over the past 2 months and I’ve now become a VIP member to help make the most of the free graphics available. As well as getting involved in the community I’ve started building a number of IB WordPress plugins.

Due to the way the site works there’s a large amount of pressure on the icon creators (the chefs) to keep up with demand and recently new icon sets have been slow to appear. This means that a large number of VIP members a finding themselves with no sets left to collect. This, in turn, is leading to these members downgrading and losing their VIP memberships.

In order to support these members and show that the newbies (myself included) still need them to frequent the IB, I’ve created these 2 doctored VIP badges for them to use as part of their avatars. Download the images above (right-click and save as) or click here to download a PNG.

Ever since I joined IconBuffet I’ve had one of their dynamic banners sat on my blog. It did its job–displaying my avatar and my points total with a referrer link as well.

Now that I’ve been bitten by the bug (the same one that got me for Pokemon–”you gotta catch ‘em all”) I’ve upgraded my account to VIP. Because of this I wanted to add something a bit more detailed to my site.
